The user must wear the wristband twenty-four (24) hours each day and commit to taking a photo of each meal. Up will track your meals and over time build a profile of which meals allowed you to feel the best afterward. This will allow you to make smarter food choices. The wristband also tracks and logs your movement during the day and alerts you to get up and be active if you have been sitting or studying for too long. The sensor measures hours slept, how long it took you to fall asleep, phases of sleep, and overall sleep quality and displays all of this information graphically on the iphone app.

Up also helps you to stay motivated with an online community and various challenges that you can participate in. Some notable challenges are “walk 10,000 steps today”, “sleep for an extra hour each night this week”, and “eat more fruit and veggies.” Up is like your personal coach and nutritionist taking care of your health so that you can concentrate on studying.
